Hello I am possibly asking the impossible. But knowledge is power they say. I am diabetic type 2 in my 70s.
I have under active thyroid.
I am very overweight.

However up till now have been able to keep HBA1C at a reasonable level last one was 53 mmols.
Currently takin Metformin Levoxythyroxine blood pressure pil
and type of statin.

I am due a HBA1C test soon. I know and have heard of these injections ozempic wegovy I think they are called.
(I have also heard that if stopped weight goes back on )

I am a person who probably would say No Thanks even if offered,
I have had a reaction I did not like when put on Gliclazide at one point. One brand of Metformin really upset my stomach.
Most brands of Metformin are ok, but I know that long term use
can cause issues.

I am not sure if my HBA1C will be reasonable this test,it may be age or the under active thyroid recently not felt as well, so I want to be prepared but not just accept standard procedure.

I half expect an increase in Metformin or if HBA1C is off a possible
you need to go on insulin, or even you qualify for ozempic or wegovy.

I check blood sugars try to do Low Carb. Obviously it would be nice beneficial to lose weight. But bit like the Gliclazide I do not think
I would find it alright for me. Am I being too negative, if insulin was
needed if that would mean I could come off or reduce Metformin even better I could go with that. I maybe being pessimistic about HBA1C result but would appreciate what others think.
Last HBA1C. 53. Possibly my Thyroid needs a recheck. Seeing Diabetic Nurse possibly in next 3 weeks.

There are a lot of ifs and buts at the moment. You can’t really make an informed decision til you have your results. All I can suggest is that you are not pressurised into making any decisions quickly. Write down names of any medications suggested and then come away and do some research about them. Come back here and ask us if there is anything you haven’t understood. Say to the nurse that you want time to think.
