Advice needed

Hi there
I'm new to this forum, I found it after searching for ''can Diabetes go undiagnosed ''
my problem is I have all the symptoms of diabetes except frequent urination...
I had urine test and blood test last week that came back negative ...
But I've since been Googling, as you do and I read that diabetes doesn't always show
in either of these test, is this true?
My symptoms are extremely blurred vision, despite having new specs 6 months ago, exhaustion, neuropathic pain in my arms and legs, consistent oral thrush, pins and needles/tingling in my hands, particularly my thumbs and excessive night time thirst, I drink at least a litre of water throughout the night. I also have an itchy rash that comes and goes and generally feel out of sorts..
I really would like to know if diabetes can go undetected in blood/urine tests before I bother my Doctor once again...
Any advice will be welcome ...

Hi witw.
Welcome.

As to your question, well yes it can and has been missed over the years.
Have a read at this link:
http://www.healthreserve.com/diabetes/d ... eening.htm

It lists the several types of test that can be done. Your symptons could be related to Diabetes or a myriad of other things too !
If you are still concerned you need to go back and discuss everything with your GP. If you are still not happy, then ask for a referral for a second opinion. The GP should not mind this at all. You need to let him/her know how concerned you are.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ken ... :D
Maybe I should just ask for a specialist referral ...
The nerve pain has been with me for some 18 odd years ...
comes and goes ...
but just lately, well in recent months it has got a lot worse ...
and the tingling started ...
I was under the pain clinic for about 5 years ... but they could do nothing for me ...
mainly because the pain is so inconsistent ...
I must also add ...
That I've got COPD.. in my 10th year now ... but do not require any medication ..
I had lung volume reduction surgery 5 years ago ...
and last September I had to have a cerebral aneurysm clipped ..
which was a complete success and I'm now discharged from Addenbrookes neurosurgery unit. ..
I think I'm just a medical mystery ....
