I'm starting a new thread as my first is so long.
I only was able to start finger prick tests yesterday and I have a little idea how my bg is changing with food.
Most of my diet is high carb although from NHS advice I didn't think it was and and my weight has dropped so my BMI is now 21.4.
My fasting bg today was 7.4, went up to 17.8 after shredded wheat breakfast, nd 6 hours after porridge oats with semi-skimmed milk it is 20 mmol//L. I'm assuming that oats are much better for me than wheat, bananas, oranges and bread.
So today I am feeling very hungry and my main meal is spaghetti Bolognese today.
I'm getting yoghourt, berries, tomatoes, cheese, eggs and salmon but does anyone have an idea on what is the best replacement for my usual snacks and lunch at least? I know that I have very little info yet as I've only just got a meter. I'm not on any meds as the lipigliptin I was given caused an autoimmune skin problem and I'm now on steroids for that, no diabetes meds since I had to stop the lipigliptin.. Not a good combination. I need to replace the carbs without having to prepare and cook much as meals are only for me and I can't afford to lose much more weight.
