First off i had a dad with type 1 diabetes so have always been on the look out with my kids, my youngest who is 5 has always been an incredibly thirsty boy, i mentioned this to a dr when he was 2/3 who dismissed my concerns, he has got worse over the last couple of weeks and also is constantly hungry now. This morning i took him to the Dr's again and this time he listened and did a urine dip and said he had very high urine sugars and then di a finger stick which was 7.4. Can i just say he ate breakfast at 7.40 and the test was done at 9.He referred us straight away for testing at the hospital. There at 11 they repeated and said the urine sugar was low and blood sugar 4.8. They took blood to send off and he ate at 1, at 2.30 they did a finger prick and his blood sugar was 9.2. They sent us home awaiting the test results they sent off but said he looked ok and asked me to book for a fasting glucose with the GP. I am really worried by the 9.2. Am i going over the top of does he seem to be at risk of diabetes?
