Advice please!

I know this sounds weird, but I have facial hair and would like to have it waxed. I contacted a local beauty salon, who said I could not have it done because I am a diabetic. I am also on warfarin.

Does anyone have any problems or what do they do to remove facial hair!

I have PCOS which makes me very very hairy - I have been getting waxed every 3 weeks for 10 years 8 of them as a T2,diabetic - I also have psoriasis and that hadn't been a problem either. Not on waferin though so can't comment on that.

Did they say why they aren't happy to give the treatment, I can't think of a reason other than maybe they are worried about damaging your skin with the wax and the healing process- if that's the case I wouldn't want them doing it anyway - maybe find another salon

I hope you can find someone to do it as a sufferer of excessive hair I know how it can affect my confidence
 
I would guess they are possibly more concerned about the Warfarin and the assosciated bleeding issues that they are about the T2 diagnosis
Do you have a know factor like PCOS, hormone imbalance etc behind the facial hair? Dietary approaches can help with some factors

The concern appears to be two fold - the temperature of the wax and the fact that generally diabetics do not heal as well as non diabetics . I suspect the problem is that in this litigious age that the beautician is concerned if anything should go wrong . I think sugaring might get over the temperature problem as should only be room temperature but not might not solve the concern about the healing issue .

There is of course lasar or electrolysis but I suspect there may be issues with both of those and they are not cheap
I would think that using facial hair removal creme should be OK but you would need to check the packet before buying to make sure it is suitable .

I use threading now and again and never have any issue ( apart from the immediate pain ) but not sure if good idea for you as we are all different and also you are on warfarin which might make it inadvisable.
 
in all the years I've been getting waxed my skin has never been damaged/burned/or broken - the only thing is I occasionally get an ingrown hair on my chin area that my beautician just plucks out - I get my lip, chin, eyebrows, underarms and lower legs done never had a problem

I did use the hair removal creams for a while but found the results only lasted a couple of days and the hair growth is more noticeable as it's "blunt" also they made my skin very sensitive and sore after a while

Whatever you do do not shave! The worst possible thing it makes the hair thicker and stronger

You need a good beautician that you can trust I find word of mouth recommendations are best

My guess would be the Warfarin as it is a blood thinner and if for some unknown reason, you got burned or hair was "tough" to get out there might be a concern about some bleeding. There are wax removal kits one can purchase from the drug store (at least here in Canada) and they work pretty well. By all means with Warfarin you need to take precautions - maybe a note from your Dr. that you are a "go" for waxing??? Good luck! I guess I am lazy or cheap but I shave the few areas that bother me - yes, I am an older female - and as the years have gone on I find I need to shave less and less:)
