I've just started the LCHF Diet (4 days in) and now I'm getting constipation. Is this a normal thing to happen when you start it or am i missing something from this diet? I'm drinking water, stopped all fizzy/carbonated drinks/ fruit juices eating plenty of meat and things like broccoli ect.

Are you just going less (less cr*p in , less cr*p out) or are you actually having trouble going?
You have made a huge change in what you are eating.. your body may need a bit of time to acclimatise..
If you are really having trouble get some magnesium citrate and dissolve a teaspoonful in some hot water.
You probably won't have much trouble after that.. but if you sleep in the raw wear your pants to bed just in case.

After the side effects of Metformin had gone I had this problem a few months in. I now add Psyllium husk to my breakfast and ground Flax seed to my other food. I also make sure to drink way more than I used to.

I changed to S/R Glaucophage because of upset stomachs. This is food related I think. Going back 18 months since I changed meds though

Oh I agree, low carbohydrate diet is definitely the cause of my constipation, I meant that for the first few weeks after diagnosis and starting Metformin, the Metformin did the opposite!
If I miss the Flax or don’t keep my drinking up, it returns.

I eat 2 solid meals a day plus a little snack around 9pm.

Foods I eat vary: Beef Burger, Chicken, Mushroom rice, Brocolli. Courgette spaghetti, Sardines, Egg Noodles, cheese, protein rolls, Eggs. Are just a few random things I eat.

Snacks are pepperamis, cheese strings, pork scratchings,

I get a heavy stomach cramps but cannot go.

I never really gave water a look before the doctor told me she was considering sending me for insulin appointments if I didn't improve my diet. So I made the basic of changes 1st that being water, cut out fizzy drinks and fruit juice, drink black coffee by the gallon. Then gradually the food and now my stomach is in shock

Many people report constipation soon after going low carb. It is easily solved by eating seeds - chia seeds and milled flaxseeds are wonderful. So good that you have to be careful not to have too much! I just use flaxseeds, sprinkled on at least one meal a day. I put it on salads, tomatoes, salmon, eggs etc and it can also go in stews and soups. The protein rolls (Lidl ones) will also help as they are full of fibre.

I use inulin every day first thing. Dissolved in water you can’t taste it so I have in morning cup of coffee - it works for me never have probs now.

Literally just putting a handful in your mouth and hey presto I hope!

I thought yoghurt was a no no among diabetics along with cereal

Full fat plain yogurts and Greek yogurts are low enough in carbs to be fine for us. It is the flavoured ones, the fake ones, and the low fat varieties that are higher carb. The nutrition label on the tub will tell you.

Can you recommend Any? Seems like a different option for me

Personally I love the Fage Total (not the low fat ones). I mix in some flaxseed and half a dozen raspberries, which makes a decent dessert. I can't eat any carbs in the mornings.

This is my trouble I understand the labelling part of foods but exactly what bits I need to take note of from these confuse me

Its pretty easy.. Look at total carbs per 100g try to get only stuff with less than 5g per 100g and you won't go far wrong.
Once you have found those items then carry on buying them.
Full fat greek yoghurts are usually the lowest in carbs but they can vary between brands.
Where do you usually shop? In Waitrose I found this to be the lowest.

3.7g of carbs per 100g

Tesco for me. Would this rule apply to all other foods also?

It is for me apart from the necessary exception of Oppo Ice Cream which is my extra special treat (and 8g per 100g). But some may think me a bit extreme (then again it's my health and future wellbeing).
Just found this one in Tesco website even better 3.4g per 100g
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/268805104 and on special offer!

It depends how much you are intending to eat. If you are going to have a spoonful, then the carbs will be insignificant. You need to look at the grams per 100 and also the size of the packet/tub/tin. If it is a 200g container, then you have to double the grams per 100. That is the number of grams you would be eating if you are the the whole packet. Some packets also give you the number of grams per serving - you would then need to look at how many grams is in each serving (it will tell you this). Some packets tell you how many grams in each unit - say in each biscuit, or cracker, or sausage or slice. That makes it easy. Just as a small example, I occasionally enjoy a small dollop of HP sauce with a sausage, and as you can imagine the carbs per 100g are huge, but I only have a teaspoonful! Sometimes it helps to have a maths degree!
