I do not have diabetes and was advised to do low carb high fat by endochrinologist due to my severe lack of energy levels. I have less than 20g carbs per day. Weeks 1 and 2 i felt great. Doing 16:8 fasting and eating 2 meals a day. Week 3 and i am so hungry altho eating the same. Have started electroytes and feel a little better energy wise but still very hungry. Am thinking of stopping the fasting and having 3 meals ( still low carb high fat) per day. Has anyone else experience this?
I have bacon, eggs, mushroom and toms for breakfast, a coffee and double cream and dinner meat or salmon with vegetables.

Hi @Kerry12345
Welcome to our forum.
I have been on a very low carb diet for over five years (under 20per day)
Yes, I experienced all this and more due to experimenting and keeping a food diary, testing and recording everything that I ate and drank for months, due to a lot of food intolerance.
You are only a couple of weeks into low carb, you have already experienced better energy levels and are feeling better, the reason you are feeling hunger and craving is your body adjustments to low carb. It is not used to the limited levels of carbs.
Perseverance is the key to see this through.
Fasting intermittently is a better approach, you can pick your own way of fasting, regardless of time, place or circumstances.
Ultimately you will have to find the best and right dietary intake, the balance between fasting, how much protein, good fats and the few carbs that will suit you.

What tests have you had?

Took me maybe 2 months before I was comfortable skipping a meal a day.My fasting times are still a work in progress, but moving forward.I think our adjustment times are very variable person to person, and day to day.
Just a couple weeks ago I went through a hunger thing and increased my input a bit, then this last week Im having almost no big hunger pangs.

Thankyou for your reply. I think im going to end up putting on weight if i eat more. I dont understand how i felt great at first then hungry and a bit tired. How long does it take to adjust. I havent had any testing except routine blood test at gp and everything fine.

Your body has depended on carbs for your energy levels, since you have been alive. Your body is dependent on carbs.
Since going low carb, you body is missing the carbs, when you reach a point, where your energy is derived from your ketones instead, the brain automatically insist on carbs, it is like doing cold turkey, you have to wean yourself off the carbs.
This may take some time, it is different for all of us. It is hard, it may take two or three times to get into the state of feeling better all the time. The hunger and craving will go away and of course, you will not put on weight if you get it right, in fact, you could easily lose weight initially. Getting the balance right will ensure that your health is as good as it can be. Lowering your carb intake, reducing your portion size, getting your protein and fats balance right, and exercise is the best treatment for what ever problems you have.

Best wishes
