I’m sure it’s meant well, but I’ve had to explain myself three times today because I ate a salad!
Funnily enough, I get less flack than a T2 does for going low carb, and I'm T1 and could theoretically inject for all the carbs I want. Maybe you should just say you're allergic to carbs and not mention T2 at all??? Or you can go the education route and say that T2 is a progressive disease unless you low carb.
When you feel particularly cross you could ask them "and how is your nan's hba1c" in return.“ my nans diabetic and she eats what she likes!”
I’ve lost 3 and a half stone
I just throw in that I prefer my kidneys functioning, and my eyes not blind. When someone compares me to another diabetic, I ask them how well they're doing complication-wise. Usually, not too good. And they're often considerably older than I am, so... At 41, I have a few more decades to spend i this body, so I'll take care of it as long as I have to.Hi all, hope everyone’s well? just wondered how others handle negative comments re being diabetic?
I don’t really feel like family and friends really understand the condition( type 2) I get lots of “Surely you can eat carbs again now” or “ my nans diabetic and she eats what she likes!” I’m sure it’s meant well, but I’ve had to explain myself three times today because I ate a salad!
