Hi,
My son has just turned 2, what would I expect his blood sugars to be in the morning when first up?if he was non diabetic what would alert you to thinking he could be diabetic what reading?
Thanks
He is only a baby you should be having advice from his Consultant or Paediatric Nurse at the hospital. Or the Health Visitor because you need guidance with someone so young having Type 1 Diabetes.
The advice is always to speak to health care professionals explaining your concerns and why you think he might have diabetes.
My daughter developed it at 2. Her brother is now 2 and showing signs of excessive thirst. I spoke to my daughters team and they gave me a separate monitor to track his levels morning and night.
Generally when he wakes he has been in the 3's and on target by evening. They are happy with this and have no cause for concern. They told me if he ever went over 11 to contact them as soon as possible.
Last year his levels went up to 9 but since a brief period they have come down and remained normal.
Ultimately, the doctors and nurses have all the advice and guidelines to follow. It probably differs depending on the child and their family history. If you have any current contract with a diabetic nursing team the best thing to do is ask them.

@Amanda83 If you have any nconcerns about your son's health, it's always best to see a doctor just so he can be checked over and you can discuss any worries you have.
Is there anything that's made you worry about diabetes?
