I suffer wit chronic pancrretitus and I have been feeling funny I bought a meter and my levels are about5.5 in the morning and can go up to 9 in the afternoon if I have not eaten , the average is about 6.3 through out the day , if I eat I feel better but then I have to continiouly eat to feel better I get the shakes and light headed but not over thirsty , I went to my gp today and he told me that my levels are to high to feel funny , 1day they will be high 6.9,8.5,7.3 then the next day they are all in the 5 then the next day I was 9.0,7.7,4.1,5.9 , I don't understand this I know that the pancreatitis can lead to diabetes , I have other health issues due to the pancreatitis but I don't think they will affect this , just some general advice to point me in the right direction please I know no one is a doctor but there must be some one who has got this issue
Many thanks

Hello Little, and welcome to the forum!

I'm afraid I have no advice for you, but I didn't want you to feel ignored and I wanted to bump your post up so that others who are more knowledgable might find it soon.

Many thanks for getting me, hope fully some one some where will have an idea , thanks for the pancrretitus .org I have tried that 1 but got no where but it did give me more of an idea I have managed to get an urgent appointment for tomorrow with my gastronomic consultant so I'll update after that , incase any one ever has the same problems as it may help some one in the future. Thanks it appreciated :D :D :)

Any advice should be taken with caution as we are not medically qualified, & do not know your condition.

Those readings are not indicative of your problem. What do you eat? Have you allergies or food sensitivities ?

What do you eat "continuously?" I suspect the readily available easy carbs - sandwiches & biscuits, etc. These are quickly digested & leave you hungry again, as well as overloading the pancreas as it copes with the carbs. I make a bun from ground almonds, baking powder, olive oil & eggs which stands by me.

Have you tried low carb foods, like cheese, cooked meats, nuts? These are more substantial & will last longer.

There are on this forum 225 posts relating to pancreatitis so you may find help there.

Hope you feel better soon.
