Alcohol wipes

A quick one, what were those alcohol wipes called that you used to clean the top of the insulin vials, just can't recollect the name
As people say.
do Google search
then a amazon search
ebay
then if you can find the brand name or ref number from these results you can do your own searches and make your own mind up to wear you buy
But do try your local chemist some times they are the best

Thanks caretaker butI'm sorted now.

I never put surgical spirit in the syringe holder, just boiled the syringe up once a week

I was told you filled it up to keep the syringe sterile, did have to boil it once a week also.

I can vaguely remember Mum taking the syringe to bits every now and then, but do remember the surgical spirit in the holder more.
Can also remember being given methylated spirits by the pharmacist once and it took all the markings off of the syringe. Just as well there was a spare syringe kept safe.

Lets hope we don't go back to them day again i had a glass syringe and only 6 needle with a piece or wire that you pushed through them to keep them clean .boiled the needle in a saucepan.
it was so nice to get the disposable needles but they was private.
i had some for a birthday present they cost a money in the 70's

What a hassle it was, and don't forget the Clinitest Kit :(

is there any wipes you can buy for numbing before injection
There's a cream you can buy from boots, just ask at the counter for it. They use it for small children.

Good old industrial meths ( clear one ) and cotton wool balls. I still have this on repeat prescription. Mind you also have sterettes alcohol wipes as Dr trying hard to stop me using both. Ive been Diabetic since February 1977 and in all that time had no puncture wound infection. I was told recently not to use any alcohol on skin. How much do you want to bet a sharp increase in puncture wound infections.

I think you mean surgical spirit not meths :)
In todays world very few use any form of cleaner on their skin before injecting. I only use the alcohol wipes due to insulin pump and sensor use.
The Dr can quite easily stop you using the industrial spirit by not prescribing it, same as the swabs.
I've had diabetes since 1965 and have never had any infections from pump or injection sites :)

No its industrial meths, i had this since 1977 when i was diagnosed. I use to store my glass syringes and needles in it to keep it sterile after boiling. Ive got container in front of me as i writing this thread. I was told by hospital when diagnosed to use meths as it keeps things sterile and you use to use it to clean the skin with a cotton wool ball. Ive still got about 14 litres of the stuff down the shed now, i use it to run my sons traction engine. You might find depending on what part the country you live in we might be talking about the same stuff. Basically its methylated spirits without the purple dye added.
