hi guys,

i have noticed that proseco and champagne does not raise my blood sugar levels, but does anyone know if white wine does? buying glasses of proseco or champagne on a night out can get quite expensive and would be more cost effective if i switched to the occasional white wine, but have no idea if that raises blood sugars? please help!

My DN told me not to count sugar in white and red wine because the sugar in the wine is cancelled out by the inhibitory effect on the liver's glucose production....

But the best way to find out is just to try it, I guess. Just don't go for the ultra sweet stuff.

They might ... but many find WW actually does. Red wine on the other hand (generally) does not. I'd try WW and watch the results. Champagne and WW gives me massive headaches

I’m not overly keen on red wine as i find it very strong. is there anything i can mix in with it to make it taste a little nicer? maybe diet lemonade

Red wine does come in different strengths, try and find one with a lower alcohol volume.

I drink glass of red wine and it doesn't elevate my BS. I've even had a couple and it doesn't spike but next morming my FBS seems slightly elevated. Prosecco is even better than red wine but as you say it can be more expensive. No carbs at all in vodka dry martini whiskey (check out diet doctor for more info).
