If I drank 6 units of alcohol the night before a fasting blood sugar test and stopped drinking well before i needed to start fasting, could that have raised my blood sugars the morning of my blood tests. I’ve not been diagnosed yet, waiting on second lot of bloods to come back, which I did not drink the night before.

Which blood test are you talking about?
If you are having an HbA1c (average blood sugar over last 8-12 weeks) I doubt it will have much effect. If just a finger prick test possibly but alcohol usually lowers blood sugar levels.

I'm afraid that alcohol is more likely to reduce your fasting level rather than raise it. But there are lots of things that can impact a fasting blood sugar, which is why most doctors use an hba1c test to diagnose diabetes. The hba1c gives you a measure of your average blood sugar for the last 3 months.

I went for blood tests because I was suffering with extreme fatigue, i fasted over night and had my bloods taken. A week later I gets a call can you come tomorrow for more bloods, and I was to fast. So I fasted again and went into the nurse and asked if everything was okay, she just said your bloods are high at 6.6. She didn’t say which bloods. She took two more vials and I was on my way, still thinking it was nothing. It’s only when 8 got home I woke up and started wondering what is going on.

Hello, Alcohol has an effect on your sugar whereby it can lower your blood sugars when on an empty stomach. Be careful though, because depending on which alcoholic drink your drinking, such as cidar, it could contain hidden sugars, such as Kopparburg, Dark fruits, WKD and other fruity tasting alcoholic beverages, which can send sugars spiking.

If you went to the doctors and she gave you a finger prick there and then and tested your sugars with a glucose meter, that is what the bloods are, if not, she was probably telling you your HBA1C results, when you had your bloods taken in a vial from the blood in your arm and get this done on your annual or 6 monthly or 3 monthly diabetic checkup..

Alcohol stops your liver making glucose as you fast overnight hence I agree that you'd not see a prick test rise in your bg the morning after.
The HBA1c is the best indicator of your average blood sugar levels so try and find out where you are there and then face up to whatever the result is (it sounds as if you are trying to find reasons why you have an elevated bg reading but the reason may well be that your body isn't tolerating what you are eating and the results are showing).
