I know that I need to cut down my consumption of alcohol and have already done so considerably but now I have reached a level where I find it difficult to reduce any further. I go to the pub for two hours five nights a week and drink around three to four pints per night. I also have a couple of glasses of wine with some meals probably one to two bottles a week. Does anyone know how to reduce the impact of alcohol on blood sugars? Is lager better than beer? Is white or red wine better? Does drinking lots of water with or after beer reduce its impact? Would Gin and tonics be better than 3-4 pints? Is real ale better than keg? Of course it is.:)

Dry red and dry white are very low in carbs, spirits zero (with diet mixer), beer is liquid bread but the best of the worst is holsten pils, but not sure if pubs have it...............

Not drinking at the moment but usually have a can or 2 of the holsten then go on to the wine...............

Unfortunately Real Ale is the highest in Carbs so is the worst thing to drink. Red Wine, dry White, most Spirits are quite low, so won't hurt too much, fortified wines will contain more sugars.
