I've just become type one and need to lose weight I have been told of a all meat diet is this a good plan?

I'm not type 1, so take this as friendly advice only, but I don't think an all meat diet is suitable for everyone, and as far as I know, extreme low-carbing (which I do myself) is more of a diet-controlled type 2 thing. Dr. Richard K. Bernstein is a type 1 guru who has fine advice on low-carb options for type 1 and type 2 diabetics, so I would suggest you look up his videos and webpage (easily accessible). More than that, I think it would be wise to check for greater details with the fine, friendly and knowledgeable crew of type 1 posters we have here: I'm sure someone will be in touch: I just wanted to say I don't believe an all-meat diet will be necessary, and I wish you all the best in your future journey.

For weightloss I - having tried most of the diets on offer at some time in my life, can only recommend Atkins or LCHF or Keto - which all basically rely on reducing the amount of carbs you eat.
As you are type one you'll have the tools to refine the alteration to suit your own personal situation. If you know the amount of carbs you are eating now, try reducing them down little by little - adjusting your insulin to suit.
People who found the drop to just 20 gm of carbs a day too much to cope with used the same ploy - even though not diabetic.
Changing to an all meat diet might work - but it would not be something which could be maintained for the rest of your life, and often people do find that they can't maintain weightloss on a 'normal' diet.
Atkins was always explained as a change for life - we all know people who lose weight on a diet, put it on again, and go back on another diet - sometimes over and over again, and it really is not good for them.

I think there are a few who may disagree with that statement...I've only been doing it for a couple of months but no problems so far.

@MarkET
You are newly diagnosed and new to insulin. It may be wise to get a grip on insulin before removing all carbs from your diet.

What does a typical meal look like? If it is a plate with a lump of grilled meat in the middle, then I might be able to eat that for a week for a bet but not any longer. By varying meat, fish, cheese, dishes cooked in different ways with different vegetables I probably don't have exactly the same meal twice in a month. Eating just meat might be viable nutritionally, but it would take the pleasure out of eating and make it a chore.

Tonight for example I had home made lamb burgers and chicken livers. Yesterday was a left over chicken breast with some of hubs sea bream and mackerel (a gift from our sea fishing builder). I think my entire relationship with food has changed - where it is now fuel rather than a "pleasurable experience" and therefore has far fewer psychological implications. I know also of course that not eating is just as viable as eating so for someone who definitely had food addiction problems food for fuel has become pretty liberating.

Personally i think food was meant to be enjoyed it's one of life's pleasures so to speak. For me i could never eat just meat, variety is the spice of life . However low carb 50 or lower will see you loss weight and lower sugars as well as eating many different foods. I think you will find you will lose weight just as quickly with a Lc diet as you would just meant only. Just my opinion.
