chocolate raisins is excellent you can enjoy the fruit and the chocolate makes you feel its worthwhile, a good handful does the job for me but like everybody else they can b addictive but what an addiction  if your out walking you can eat a bag quite easily :) in all honesty not the best but a nice treat :D
Not so much for hypos, but for preventing them whilst walking I discovered dark choc covered bits of apricot work brilliantly .

Have you tried Kendal Mint cake, you can get small packets and it is very quick to work.

Good suggestion malibu! :)

Hi

if i am out with the kids I try to ensure that i have some of the cartons of juice with me. I get mine from asda (the value ones) and of course sweets (for me really). It is really a good question because i dont like the things they tell you to eat or drink.

Since been on pump I have bought Glucotabs which have 4g of carbs and my monitor tells me how many carbs to eat so when out and about I can have the right amout til i get home or shop!

15g of anything quick acting. That's all you need! any more, you could risk going too high and any less, you risk not correcting the hypo. sometimes, I check 15 mins later and need an additional 15g, but always, always quick acting, who's got time for hypo's these days?!

NB - I am ignoring the comment about avoiding hypo's rather than correcting them  :P

8) How about prunes...I bought some a while back with a quick seal bag. I don't buy them regularly though........ theres a joke there somewhere!! :)
I have also found Nature Valley bars are good ,as you get two bars, and they don't go off or leak! 8)

Prunes and Nature Valley bars would be to slow acting I'm afraid, what is needed is fast acting carbs that hit the system straight away. I would choose these foods if I was in the low 4's, but when hypo I would opt for fast acting glucose every-time.

fastest acting and will stop your bs going lower almost instantly does not melt on a hot day.
Scottish Tablet.
Im convinced this was made with hypos in mind.

Regarding rasins I always have a bag of raisins and sultanas in the house in case i run out of fresh fruit, about 30 is as good as a banana or 2 glucose tabs.
