I don’t recommend this to anyone this is what I have done. I recently lost nearly 2 stone and my blood sugars were the same even on Metfromin. Perhaps slightly better from 15 to12.
Metfromin made me feel sluggish and tired and so I stopped taking my Metfromin 6 mts now and my blood sugars are still the same without it. I know a BM if 12 is to high. I don’t check my blood sugars regularly but I have been feeling much better having been off Metfromin.
Has anyone tired alternatives including herbs or Cytoplan.?

No but I tried cutting carbs right down and it worked. As have many many type 2 on this forum. Have you tried that?

Type two diabetes is the inability to deal with dense carbohydrate foods - so I eat about 40gm of carbs a day from low density sugar and starch foods. Problem solved.
I felt dreadful when taking Metformin and Atorvastatin, so I stopped.

I have cut down in carbs. Though I’m vegetarian recently and finding it hard to prepare meals that will give me energy.

Yes I have but not to 40grams. I’ve recently gone vegetarian and I’m struggling.

I would tend to blame the Atorvastatin.

I don't get on with statins (and my ratios seem fine without them) but I seem to tolerate Metformin.
Interested if you stopped both at once, or tried Metformin on its own after stopping the statin.

If you want to stick to vegetarianism take a look here https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/just-had-my-hba1c.164556/#post-2057591 for ideas. If you did it thinking it would make you healthier/to improve your diabetes then you may want to rethink that as low carb and vegetarian, whilst doable if it’s important to you, is certainly not the easiest choice to do healthily.

You might want/need to go lower than you have to get the results you want as because 12 is still too high as you rightly say. Also you need to test your food more. Immediately before a meal and then 2hrs after. This will give you a better idea of what each meal does to your bloods. You want a rise of no more than 2mmol or the carbs were too high.

If you low carb you get your energy from fats instead of carbs. So no more low fat foods (full of sugar and chemicals often anyway). Did you raise these?

If you don't want medication that is fine. Neither do I, but it is necessary to cut the carbs right down and add a bit of intermittent fasting. It seems the carbs you are eating are too many. Increase your fats for the loss of energy - plenty of olive oil, avocado, nuts and so on. Avoid any low fat products. What about dairy? Do you eat that? Butter, cream, cheese, full fat yogurts will all help.
