Thank you in advance

Hello @ronaldbkim and welcome!

I’m sorry you’re feeling so rough. I don’t have experience of any of the medications you mention, but I’m sure you’re not meant t be feeling constantly nauseous and feverish. I’d advise a trip to the doctor tomorrow get checked out.

Hi @ronaldbkim ,

You shouldn't be feeling this bad... I don't know the statin, as I've only ever had simvastatin (and it aggravated my rheumatism, besides upping my bloodsugars... Which is a thing statins tend to do), but it could be the metformin messing with you... I know it made me very ill, and you're already on the extended release version... Time to go back to your doc and ask for an alternative!

You could try diet-only first, if your doc approves ( https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/the-nutritional-thingy.2330/ is a quick start guide; it lowered my weight, bloodsugars and cholesterol. Heck, even my bloodpressure's down), but if you feel medication's the way to go for you, there's more in this world than just metformin. It doesn't do all that much anyway, so... It's not a take-this-or-die med. There are many others to try.

The combination of Metformin and Atorvastatin I took for a few weeks made me feel dreadful all the time, and I thought I might turn inside out on just one Metformin a day. The most galling thing about those dreadful weeks is that I did not need tablets in the first place, it is just what they always prescribe, with no other advice. Thank goodness I already knew about low carbing and went back to it at once.

In addition to the above posts, do you use a blood sugar meter to test your levels when you feel unwell?

What you describe sounds a lot like how I feel when blood glucose is high, so it could be related to what you ate at lunch too.
Have you changed your diet in any way after diagnosis? Can we ask what you have for lunch?

Is that purely fasting glucose? What do your bloods do around a meal? (Test before a meal and 2 hours after the first bite. Do you go up less than 37 mg/dl?) Right now your fasting blood glucose is pushed down with the metformin, but if you changed your lifstyle, who knows... Could be you don't even need it. Nor the statins, for that matter.
