I keep seeing posts with milestones like first 10k pop up every now and again.

I managed my first 10k run today , 5 months after diagnosis, 2 stone lighter than then and 4 stone lighter than my peak.

A time of 1:06:21 which I am happy with.

Hopefully I can still walk tomorrow.

Aiming for a couple more 10k runs, an organised 10k at end of May and then build up to half marathon by Autumn.

That’s awesome! Do you do anything special to fuel that length of run? How does running that far affect your BG?

I drink about 500ml of water 2 hours before if I am running over 6k , no special fuelling just yet , that’s the next phase, to work out what I need that won’t adversely affect BG long term.

All of my runs have been first thing in the morning before breakfast. Yesterday fasting BG was 5.5, still fasting post run was 6.4, so a rise of 0.9. I think the largest BG rise I’ve seen was 2.0.
