It's only a question of time before the the temple built to the god Statin comes crashing down.
Out next month another cardiologist, Dr Stephen Sinatra (sounds like he's writing it 'his way') together with Johnny Bowden, a certified nutrition specialist, have written
The Great Cholesterol Myth: Why Lowering Your Cholesterol Won't Prevent Heart Disease-and the Statin-Free Plan That Will.

Before you do any of that, ask yourself these questions

What do cardiologists know about heart disease ?
The author may make some money from this - does that bother me ?

Here are Dr Sinatra's credentials :

Stephen Sinatra, M.D., is a board-certified cardiologist, educator, and author who created the Manchester, CT-based Heart MD Institute (http://www.heartmdinstitute.com) as an educational platform focused on prevention and proactive lifestyle changes to live a healthier life. He is the author of Reverse Heart Disease Now, The Sinatra Solution, Lower Your Blood Pressure in Eight Weeks, and Heart Sense for Women. He has also contributed to several prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals, including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Heart Disease, CT Medicine, and the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.

Geoff (happy to point the way to mythbusters)

Yes Geoff, it's just a matter of time until this EVIL drug is exposed for the dangerous effects it has on the whole body especially the heart. You know that many people complain of muscle pain, well it occurs to me that the heart is a big muscle, blooming obvious isn't it ?

The more publications exposing this money making drug the better.

I expect that there will be an avalanche of litigation, mine included when the proverbial hits the fan !

Regards Roy

Statins have been elevated to Superstar status when the side effects are actually muscle pain and spasm and as Roy said - the heart is a muscle and can also be adversely affected.

Meanwhile, the lowly bottle of Milk of Magnesia which has been on the market for donkeys years and has been a must have in the medicine cabinets of many a little old lady who has always known its benefits as a very speedy muscle relaxant, often used for leg cramps and for 'indigestion' (often a silent heart attack).

It's making a come-back as some doctors are now using it to quicly relax the heart when someone is having a heart attack.

Dr Sinatra also seems to get a big income from supplement sales.
Here's his recommended diet.
Seems to favour a modified Med diet,
Now, technically I prefer to combine the Mediterranean diet with a taste of Asia to create what I call the Pan Asian Modified Mediterranean (PAMM) diet. PAMM emphasizes fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, lean protein, and healthy fats at every mea
l.
not so keen on saturated fat though.

With a name like Sinatra are we sure he doesn't have Mafioso connection selling mediteranean fare ?
I had not heard of Dr Sinatra, I thought that I'd read everything regarding health and diet.
Will now research this Dr. nice one Geoff
