Hi Everyone
Diagnosed yesterday with a 2nd blood result was 119. I’m completely out of my comfort zone with this. Sounds like I’ve got loads to learn so apologies in advance for lots of questions.
I’ve just used my pen for the first time literally ate 30 mins ago but my reading was 28.5G?? I only had tuna, lettuce and cherry tomatoes with a drizzle of salad cream.????
Yes, was about to edit my post to include this. If traces of food was on finger after eating that could affect the post meal reading.Hi and welcome to the forums.
What was your reading before you ate? You need this to understand the effect of the food you ate.
Did you wash your hands (with a simple soap) before testing ?

Question away.
There is some basic info for new members in my signature. Have a read. Then come back and ask more questions. We learn from each other.
Good choice of name btw. It made me take notice. Some good news is that red wine, generally doesn’t cause increase in blood glucose for many of us. Taken in moderation, of course.
Morning Pipp

Hi AgainAlso it would be helpful to know what Type you have been diagnosed with and what insulin(s) you have been prescribed - you mentioned a pen so I'm assuming its an insulin pen?, though note even the fast acting insulins don't all kick in in only 30 mins
Thank you so much. Will doHello and Welcome @GoodClaret
I was pretty shocked, nervous, anxious and scared when I was first diagnosed. You have already shown a great response by
So please read the links from @Pipp and right now eliminate carbs as this can have an impact on your levels quite quickly as they do need to come down. - Finding this site and posting here. I am among many from around the world who consider this to be my number 1 source of support, information and education about diabetes
