Hi all,
I've been lurking and reading the forum for a couple of days, so I figured it was time to actually post and say hi!
I was tested for Type 2 diabetes last month and my numbers came back fine according to my GP, but since I have a huge family history of diabetes (both parents and 3 out of 4 grandparents had it) and my mother was recently diagnosed with gastroparesis due to her uncontrolled diabetes, I've decided to be more active about my own diabetes prevention. That's what brought me here! I'm in the process of switching to a low-GI/lower carb diet (I'm vegetarian, so I've downloaded the Vegan cookbook from the website here and bought several more cookbooks and scoured Pinterest for every low-carb vegetarian recipe I could find!). I also bought a blood glucose meter (SD Codefree) based on some of the suggestions I've read in the forums so that I can track my glucose levels closely and see what my trigger foods are.
Looking forward to more of the amazingly helpful advice and support I've already seen here! Thanks.
