Hello again. This is just a question.have you faced lots of limitations after being diagnosed with diabetes?I mean like have you stopped doing some stuff and eating some foods?if so isn't that difficult?

You would think so but it wasn't as difficult as you might think. Limitations sounds as though I only gave things up and didn't find new things to eat. I found that if I found a new meal that didn't spike me first then I could give up one that did. It's slow process but I no longer remember what I used to eat before diagnosis but really enjoy what I eat now.

well better to change ones eating styles than growing blind and loose ones feet to amputations, well yes there is so much I cant eat anymore , on the other hand I have lost 70 pounds now and look good for the first time in 17 years which I wouldn´t have thought possible again..

and I feel healthier and can do much more... so actually happy for having to change my eating style , otherwise I would never have gotten my better body back

We've had a fantastic (nearly) four years since my husband's diagnosis. Lots of new foods, new energy, increased clarity of thought and new clothes (to replace the ones that became too big) to mention just a few things. What went: podgy pasta, soggy spuds, boring bread ........ all the tasteless beige stuff. Great swap, wouldn't go back.

For me the changes I chose (and needed!) to make after my diabetes diagnosis has enabled me to improve both my life and my diet, not least because I place a very high value on my eyesight and ability to use my hands. I'd previously spent several years living like a zombie in a permanent brain fog, but changing to a low carb higher fat diet (a) got rid of that state and made me feel human and alive again, and (b) changing back from my husband's high carb shopping and cooking to a much lower carb diet has made eating much more healthy and enjoyable again. Yes, I have missed some favourite food, but most of the stuff I'd been expected to eat I was more than happy to see the back of!

Hello,

I have a question for you..
What do you feel you would change in the unlikely event of being diagnosed "D."?

I am interested in the reply you might give. @Jaylee asked a simple question. If you ever get diagnosed with diabetes, what changes would you make to your lifestyle.

Same here, I enjoy the food I eat now and so much more filling than high carb, lost 18kg and blood glucose in the normal range now.

I had an interesting experience this morning walking through a shopping centre - had to go past a bakery and I know most people think it's a wonderful smell, but honestly, there was such an all-pervasive smell of yeast that I felt quite ill. Maybe I'm more sensitive to it now that I never ingest the stuff. Ghastly :(

I know exactly how you feel. I have to buy bread for Mr Hotpepper and just walking through that section makes stomach turn now.
