Hi everyone,
I'm T2, taking Alogliptin only for my diabetes right now, and I will admit right off the bat that my diabetes has not been well controlled at all in the last few months due to severe mental health issues.
I was referred to A&E yesterday by my GP as I was having really bad upper abdominal and chest pain. She suspected there could be an issue with my heart, they did a few tests in the hospital and although my heart rate was very fast they didn't think I was having a heart attack. Was sent for a chest x-ray and whatever that has shown and the pain and swelling in my belly had the Dr convinced I have a stomach ulcer.
Obviously I will need to have an endoscopy to confirm but she is positive that's what is happening. I was put on saline drip to bring my heart rate down and she said my lactic acid levels were very high in blood tests. I was in so much pain (still am). I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what kind of foods you were eating while in a bad flare up?
I have no appetite at all and have barely eaten anything in the last 24 hours, just drinking water but I know I'll have to start eating again eventually. Lots of the stuff I've seen online would not work well with a low carb diet which I know now I have to start following again, this has really scared me with the amount of pain I'm in, also getting recurrent abcesses which the GP has told me is due to the uncontrolled diabetes. Possibly just be living on eggs, chicken and berries until this calms down, which are all apparently ok with stomach ulcer. Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
Maggie
