Hello
Even though my Insulin is changing to Basal/Bolus on Monday I have a question in the meantime.
My sugars are anything from 9-16 on average with the occasional high of 20-22. I'll go low when I miss my lunch or I'm late with Lunch but when I'm going low its at around 7! Feels like I used to feel if I hit a 4! My DN said this is because my sugars are so high and my body has got used to them being high. Not a nice feeling but wanting some ways idea's please of ways to Increase a little without having something too carby/sugary which will inevitably bring them too high

Surely you need to sit out the feeling of being low at 7 and get your body used to it, not try and put your sugars up, to make you feel "better"? "Hitting a 4" is what most people do much of the time, and feel well and normal on it.
Insulin use isn't my specialist subject, so just questioning your question, really.

Feels like Im having a hypo though :( Even before when I hit the 4's it was hypo symptoms for me and felt really unwell.
Obviously if I had the usual hypo treatment it would get me too high again :(

7 feels like a hypo because your body is used to those high BG levels ! As you begin to get these lower, these hypo symptoms at 7 should disappear and return in the 3's and 4's. It may take a little time. In the meantime, if you feel terrible at 7, have a biscuit or something but try not to over treat the symptoms and going high again.

As a T2, there is little danger I will have a hypo which would seriously affect my health, but I have had the odd time when I've felt very empty and on testing I've been very low 3. As I don't want a big rebound, I would either just eat my meal, provided it was due, or have a cup of tea with milk. My theory is the drop of milk is just about enough to persuade my body food is on the way. So far, it has worked for me.

Logic has to suggest that feeding a false hypo will only delay the adjustment your body needs to make.

I hope you're feeling better.

I cannot have anything that causes my bloods to jump above 6. I always carry a piece of fruit to let me gradually climb up. I can choose how much to eat then. I would always ask for a non sugary drink as we'll. my medical card that I carry around has this info.
Once on meds you will adjust and the symptoms will decrease and you will notice the difference. Give it time.

After attending Dafne, Ive been advised to treat hypo's only with hypo treatments and my Husband has been trained to give Glucagen
