Any impact on FBS when metformin dosage is reduced

I take metformin 500mgX2 at day and at night. With recent HBA1C of 5.7%, dr recommended 500mg each at day and night. Started this from Wednesday night. Today FBS is at 6.6. We usually trend around 5.5 to 6.0. Not sure if reduction in metformin caused this spike. Few deviations though - a) I usually take FBS around 8:00 AM, today's reading is at 7 AM. b) had dinner at 930 PM against usual of 6 or 7 PM. Not able to pin the root cause since there are mutliple factors changed.

But in general wnated to know any impact of FBS when metformin dosage is reduced.

In general I think it might increase FBS given that one of metformin's effects is to reduce the liver dump, but I don't think you can tell anything from one day's result. Congrats on the hba1c result.
