Many here have had to give up certain foods that we appear to have had some addiction to (at least I have anyway).

So, now that we are reformed characters (in one sense) , what are our new addictions?

I'll start:

Almonds, Brazils and walnuts

Olives

Feta cheese

Plain yoghurt

frozen Mango pulp/flesh and Greek yogurt. Does have a few carbs.

Cocoa powder hot chocolate, with peppermint essence and vanilla concentrate

Green and blacks organic 70% choccie. Have to have my 6 little squares. I need it. Really!
Salted peanuts.
Choccie orange mug cake
My ice-cream
Dessert is allowed twice a week. If I have dessert I'm not allowed choccie.
In the past I'd have had dessert, wine and choccie. Bad girl! I had a week once where I had 4 glasses of wine. We went out twice (at our age!) so I had 2 glasses of wine both times. God, do I know how to party or wot? Life on the edge hey!

...mini babybels with walnuts..

..strawberries and cream, with a little mango thrown in..

...Franks diabetic ice cream....don't normally buy anything with a diabetic label, but this is yum, doesn't affect my bs and only £1.99 for a litre tub :p

...cashew nuts, pistacchio nuts..

Polly you can make your own!
Ice-cream
Per person:
100g frozen berries or cherries
100ml double cream
1tsp sweetner

Blitz berries in food processor till in tiny pieces. Add cream and sweetner. Blitz till ice-cream. You cannot freeze this so eat immediately!

I know! I'm lazy in the week [work] and tend to grab something quick to eat when I get home.

That ice cream recipe sounds good though, especially as you have to eat immediately!!

I find it tastes fine even if you leave out the sweetener. I avoid sweeteners because I find they make me want to eat other sweet things, most of which are high-carb. Or try leaving the berries whole and eating it semi-freddo.

My "addiction" would be double cream.

The only reason we have it in the week is because it takes minutes! Got a fab microwave choc orange sponge if you want that but you have to make it for at least 2 as it's one egg per 2 people.

peanuts, hazelnuts, raw carrots (I miss them if i don't eat them every day ) and blueberries (to a lesser extent)

For a while it was raw spinach, but I'm starting to look at it and think 'not again'. Shame that never happened with the delights of Messrs Cadbury and Kipling.

How do you do this chocolate orange sponge? Sounds yummy, I love cake :)

50g butter, melted in the microwave
3tbsp ground almonds
1 1/5 tbsp sweetner
1/4 tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
1 egg
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 squares 70% dark flavoured with orange chocolate ( I use Aldi as it's cheap)

Melt the butter in a bowl, add remaining ingredients and divide into 2 mugs and nuke for 1 minute per mug. Leave to stand for 1 minute. It doubles in size when cooked. My microwave is 900w so might need to experiment if lower wattage.
