My daughter is 12 and has a pump, usually ok even when ill but this morning started having crazy highs of 25/30 and ketones of 1.8. After trying to correct rang nurse and they advised to change canuela which we did (twice) and give correction. Correction worked as it started to go down for a while until lunch time when it started to rise , ketones back up to 1.1. Advised to give double correction dose of 14 units via pen and this did the trick again until this evening. She is now back up to 28 but only 0.2 ken tones. I am tempted to give her another 14 unit correction on the pump this time to see if the pump is at fault.

Anybody had anything like this before? Its driving me crazy with worry!

It sounds as if you need to change the cartridge to make sure the insulin is fine and if this doesn't work set a temp basal. 14 units correction? That is more than half of my total daily dose.
Did you check the cannula when it was removed, was it ok or bent?

Change everything including batteries, tubes, cartridge, cannula, insulin... The lot ....and the site area.
If it was me I too would then be fldoubling the correction dose.

If accuchek pump and rapid d's ...The needle from the two connectors can get bent when connecting... This apparently is the first thing to check... The needle in the connector tube...

I only found this out in the last couple of months...after 4 years of pumping.

Sorry if you're not using these.. Then its a useless bit of info...
