35 years undiagnosed (age 4-5 upwards)
Misdiagnosed Type 2 for 8 years and wrongly medicated with bad side-effects.
Currently waiting MODY test.
Beta cell tests came back negative.
Newly on Gliclazide 320mg daily
BG's now back into single figures although fastings can still be highish some mornings (12-13mmol)

I have always had the world's shortest fuse. I think it happens when my glucose is dropping steeply* but I think it also happens when I'm high. Can't tell with a finger prick test. All I know is that I obsess and get wound up about pointless stuff when I'm in a certain state* but when it's low and stable I couldn't care less and I'm placid as you like.
Anyone got a similar experience?

Yes @steveelles , the effects of high glucose levels on emotional state are well documented.

When my blood glucose was high pre diagnosis, I was like a bear with a sore head and looking back I don't know why the missus stayed with me as it lasted a few years without knowing the cause.

A few insulin injections later and I'm more laid back than Samuel L Jackson!

Highs don't bother me and never have. But if I go low I get irritable and lose patience much easier. Also really quick changes can make me feel crudy and hence then irritable.

Highs and lows turn me into a depressed, contrary, even-more-anxious-than-usual monster. I'll bite heads off left and right. So yes. You're not alone, and it is a known symptom of bloodsugars out of the normal range.
