Yes I have been very worried over the last few weeks my awareness is hit or miss where my symptoms have changed. I have had hypos outside of the house with no symptoms till I get to 2 .

I don't have any hypo awareness. There's no losing, it is lost. But I'm not really sure what it is you are trying to find out @Tinyface ? Is there anything in particular you're wanting to know?

Well I have been in contact with diabetic nurses at southmead in Bristol..firstly they got my to run sugars up ..but after weeks of doing this they said you're not getting hypos now..but I was very high running into 20s..so I went back to normal insulin intake and been having loads of hypos with no awareness at all..

I have been told one minute they will come back and next minute you've been diabetic for a long time soo normal for awareness to change..n was told to accept it and wear I'd when outside of the house..soo my question is how do you cope leaving the house because I am very nervous when I have to go to appointments

I understood that running a little bit higher for some weeks helped. So not in the 20s but just above normal.

Have you been offered a CGM?

Have you had a CGM? I have been reading up about those and read that you have to get funding for one..

I just leave the house. That's not an issue.

I self fund a CGM. You might get funding for a CGM because of issues with hypo awareness, that's a decision for the CCG. You would need to ask your consultant to submit an individual funding request for this.

Running a little higher (just stay above 5) should help with restoring symptoms. Expecting it do happen in a couple of weeks might be a little ambitious. Symptoms do change over time, so you need to keep careful note of what your new symptoms might be.

You shouldn't have a limited number of test strips available, ask your DSN for help with that. They'll have to write to your GP to get your prescription something more sensible.

CCG is clinical commissioning group. They make NHS funding decisions for the local area.

DSN is diabetic specialist nurse.

Lost mine years ago told it was due to the length of time I've been diabetic, told running levels higher may help but didn't for me, feel exactly the same at 5.8 and 2.0 it's a good job my wife can tell when I'm low lol.

I've read a few posts of here from forum members who have increased their BG to regain hypo awareness. There seems to be no hard and fast rule for this, but aiming for around 9mmol/l for 6-8 weeks appeared to be a rough guide.

There's no need to go as high as 20's, your clinic should have a framework for restoring hypo awareness and if your DSN isn't aware - then he/she can ask one of the doctors there to outline the procedure:)

It must be a worry as you live alone, i have to test levels frequently, yesterday dropped from 6.9 to 2.8 within 50 minutes, I try and keep to the same regime but some days my diabetes has other ideas
