Hi,

When I was diagnosed I went mad and requested loads of free meters just in case, whatever just in case meant. Now, the cupboard that ironically used to be by choccies and sweets cupboard and is now by little diabetes cupboard contains about 5 meters that I have no point in keeping...some are Bayer ones, some are Accu-check...can't remember to be honest...they all come with strips and lancets etc....I have opened some of them as I wanted to see which type suited me best and I am happy with my Optium Exceed meter.

If anyone would want any of them or just the strips etc, please give me a shout.

Or you could donate them to people with diabetes in developing countries. This info is cut & pasted from http://www.iddtinternational.org/india/index.htm Slightly stangely, they ask for test strips, but not meters - might be worth emailing / phoning to check.

IDDT is part of an Australian organisation, 'Insulin for Life' [IFL]. IFL is a not-for-profit organisation based in Australia, which collects unwanted, unopened, in-date insulin and test strips to send developing countries as part of a humanitarian aid programme. IDDT is the UK arm of IFL and we collect and send unwanted insulin and other diabetes supplies to clinics in developing countries for distribution to children and adults with diabetes who cannot afford insulin and treatment they need to stay alive.
IDDT ensures that any insulin and supplies you donate will reach the developing countries in need of our help.
The need is for:
· No longer needed, unopened and in-date insulin [with at least 3 months to the expiry date]
· Syringes, lancets, needles
· Glucose test strips
Please help if you can by sending supplies to:
Insulin Dependent Diabetes Trust,
PO Box 294,
Northampton NN14XS

THANK YOU, YOU WILL HELP PEOPLE TO STAY ALIVE!

I'd be very grateful for one, I was just diagnosed Type 2 this week, still a bit shocked, everthing's new and a bit scary. New to this type of forum too - how do I 'pm' my address?
