How you felt when you was first diagnosed?

I searched to look at my very first post on here, and i'd posted because i was worried that my meter gave me the reading 'Hi'..

Everyone who replied was so lovely and genuinely concerned for me (aaawe :) )

Makes me think how much i've learnt and progressed from then.

AND i can't even remember the last time i had a 'Hi' Infact i haven't had a reading over 12 or a hypo for almost 4 weeks now!

Glad you feel better! some cracking people around here :D

I felt relieved that the symptoms I that I had been experiencing weren't cancer. Compared to that diabetes seemed like a lucky escape.

Then I felt overwhelmed for a week trying to digest all of the information I could about Diabetes (over a telephone line, because I was staying at a hotel in Holland without internet access). The only time that I felt upset was visiting the Supermarket for the first time as a "low-carber" and realising that at least 70% of the food was out of bounds to me.

Other than that, I knew that many people successfully controlled their diabetes, so it was just a question of when, rather than if, I could control my own.

I felt relieved to have a name, and a treatment, for what had made me feel awful for so long. Although "for the rest of your life" seemed a very long time.
