People that can't say sorry.
I am so sorry to hear this. Big hug.So, my darling husband at 51 years old died two weeks ago.
Unexpected, although we had concerns the heart specialist we paid privately told us 8 weeks he statitics worked out to having 95% chance of living until he was 85.
Moving on:
The NHS do offer males 64/65 to have aortic scans. Patients are not routinely called in to have these done. Makes have to actually request them.
Please get all male relatives 64 or okder that havent had them done to get them done.
For people younger with concerns you can ask for a scan anyway (we werent aware of this) and paid privately to see a heart consultant who did nt think there was any concern. We had used dr goigle and thought my husband higher day/night diastolic rate was a concern that his blood was not exiting his heart correctly.

I'm not wishing to have any expressed condolences.
My husband died because of mistakes by ambulance, taken to wrong hospital and being dumped in a corridor for 3 hours without any person seeing at all and nothing being done.
Please, no condolences. Plese get male loved ones checked
Dd, when I read about that scan, something clicked in my head.
My dad died at 46, with what I thought was a heart attack at home. There was something that I remembered what was on his death certificate. It bugged me so much that I spoke to my older brother a few minutes ago.
My brother confirmed that was what dad had in fact died from, the hospital funnily enough where the post mortum was done, was at addenbrookes. At that time, mum and dad were living in Newmarket.
Both my brothers were called in to be scanned etc. They were 23 and 20 at the time. My older brothers scan was ok but from then on, he goes yearly to be checked on at Papworth.
However my younger brother at the time was 20, his scanned showed problems and he was called in for surgery.
So I do urge males at 65 to get that checked. Even young male adults can be at risk, though it's rare
My dad died back in 1983. So I would say then, possibly rare.Thank you @ally1 for raising awareness as well with your family details.
A dissection is supposedly rare!! However it is amazing that I have heard so many close friends of mine that have lost their loved ones. Its making me realise it isnt quite so rare as reported. Unless of course its a problem for those living on the east of england area!!
I am personally disgusted that my husband was left on a trolley with absolutely no treatment for 3 hours. If he had been taken to the centre of excellence heart hospital a stones throw from us, he would have stood a chance, instead of no chance.
The ambukanceman that deemed that my hubby had an irregular heart like the ambulanceman and therefore only needed a check up is still working.....
The two females with him, hopefully wont listen to that ambulanceman again and next time will follow the detailf of the ECG's and take the next patient to the right hospital.
Thanks @ally1 for your family experiences...
thinking of you.. xx
I totally agree with you. I feel that all men should be tested regardless of age.Just hope @ally1 that "rare" is so, but I dont think it is nowadays.
Too many people around me have tales of dissection and not aneurysm.
My husband did suffer and it should never have been like this.. never..
