Hello, it's now my second appointment since my last post on this forum.
Since then I am feeling a lot better after having come clean with my Doctor. We had agreed on taking background insulin and gradually introducing bolus. However I have been too steady for my own good!

I would appreciate it if you read, like, comment and follow the blog and other posts
I will keep you updated on my appointment

It is so good to read you are getting some help @bumblebee95 and have been able to tell your doctor what was happening. It is a very hard step to take but things can only get better. There will be a period of time when your weight stabilises as I found after years of anorexia and insulin manipulation. It is a really tough time to get through but very worth persevering.

Keep taking the steps you have agreed on and each day you will continue to feel better and hopefully get into a routine. Please don't be hard on yourself about not getting perfect results or a perfect HbA1c because they don't exist, there are too many variables so keep doing what you've started and the results will get better. I wish you well, it is a hard battle to get out of the situation but worth every moment of the struggle. Continued good luck with it :)

Hi,

I read your blog @bumblebee95,

You're very brave for putting it out there. Although I'm type 2, and don't take insulin...I do know what it's like to stop caring about yourself & feel completely overwhelmed. It's not easy to get past that. But, it sounds like you're doing just that. That shows courage & determination. It may not all go perfectly, but the fact you're trying is the main thing. So, forgive yourself when it sucks, and move on. I wish you good health & lots of good wishes.

Wow what a powerful read and really well done for laying it there and bare for all to see.

The biggest issue I have with type 1 is that we are judged by numbers, so for everyone around us, including our healthcare team we become a series of numbers which ultimately define good/bad control. This to me is complete and utter rubbish, we are humans with a condition, we come first not the diabetes and we shouldn't be defined by what our HbA1cs are.

You are doing wonderful, put yourself and your own mental well being first, getting better control will help your moods and so this should be your focus, don't feel let down if some days this doesn't come right, as quoted above there are so many variables to our bg readings that more often or not they are beyond your control i.e. stress, hormones, exercise, do don't beat yourself up if you have a bad day. Please remember that it takes time to come good and each day you are making progress when you are injecting, so just remember small steps. When you are feeling down go for a walk, breath deeply, these 2 things will help you cope better and if you can try meditation. If weight gain is an issue, get on a bike, go for a walk/run, this will help decrease your insulin requirements and help you manage any possible weight gain, however as an oldie to type 1, when you are looking in the mirror focus on your best attributes so focus on your the bits you love, and remember how amazing you are to come this far and to now be taking good care of yourself.

Keep at it and look forward to ready your posts x
