Hi @Jodie Louise Depends on your trust and your eligibility too, have you already discussed this with your DSN ?

Pump
I had umpteen appointments with the pump nurse, trying this, that and the next thing to try and sort out my blood sugars. Eventually she told me to ask to see my consultant at my next clinic appointment, as he had to refer me to the pump consultant. When I was seen months later by the pump consultant, he agreed that I should go on the pump. It was then just a matter of waiting till they had the money for another batch of pumps.
I presume every hospital is different.

How many appointment do you go to get an insulin pump
Hi Jodie Louise
Pumps cost a lot more than jabs so there are some eligibility criteria e.g.
Are you having poor warning signs of hypos?
Is your 3 month average getting higher or too high in general?
Do you understand carbohydrate counting such that you can use this feature of the pump? Normally you'd need to attend a course e.g. Dafne although BERTIE is a good one offered by Bournemouth Hospital.
Some nurses and consultants are less keen on pumps than others so get someone who is on your side about getting one once you have decided that it will be of benefit. They are a 4 year commitment for your CCG hence the hoops to be jumped through!
