Does anyone know of a good arthritis forum? Hopefully as good as this diabetic one. Doubt very much if anything can equal this. Thanks

Hi Sid.
Thanks for reading my mail. Tell me, I have to ask, are you anything like your photo, ie Jim Trott on the Vicar of Dibley? I often see your picture and it does make me chuckle. I think he's great.
Very best wishes.

Hi Broads, no my avatar is as you rightly point out Jim Trott and his character makes me laugh too.

I actually look like this

Then again if I looked like that I probably wouldn't be looking for a good arthritis forum, anyone?

If anyone finds one please post the URL here ... Both me and Mrs Hobs are in need with her waiting for yet another arthroscopy on a knee and the other has been fully replaced. As for me, I'm trying to hold out until its the only way to silence my yelping... :(

Hi Hobs. if you find any useful sites please let me know. I was diagnosed with arthritis in my neck today. Hadn't a clue. Just had a very painful right arm for a while so went to see the doc who sent me for an xray. She is going to get me some physio(scuse spelling). Any advice, thoughts please would be gratefully received. Funnily enough I have not gone into a state of panic. Please pm me if you can offer any advice.

Best wishes to both you and Mrs Hobs

Hi Sue
Have tried this but nothing looked user friendly like this forum does, if you know what i mean. Trouble is, we are all spoilt on our forum.

.arthritiscare.org.uk/php/phpBB2/ is Uk based, anyone been on it ?

I've had several looks in the past but to me it always seemed full of moans, gripes and feeling sorry for each other.
I'm after good exchanges and advice & tips from personal experiences rather than words of support and/or sympathy. Its kinda OK but not really for me.

Joint injections can give almost instant relief depending on the cause of pain, but they can be relatively short lived depending how much use you put your joint(s) through. If you have a painful arm ask if your rotor cuff has been checked because that can give false indication for neck problems as I found out, and no amount of physiotherapy can rectify a damaged/worn rotor cuff ...it could even make matters a tad worse as it did with me.

I'd love to find a friendly place too. I was dx'd with Rheumatoid Arthritis 3 years ago and sometimes feel quite alone in dealing with it. It's tough to have such continual pain etc and my friends really have no frame of reference. We're all just around 40 years old and they see it as a bit of an 'old folks' problem. :-(

I do find some short to medium relief by using prescribed Voltarol Emulgel (its a tubed cream) but it can cause stomach problems so as I take Lansoprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) for other reasons, it does not affect me in that way.
