Article: Glucose-monitoring patch could mean no more finger-pricking for diabetics

There is an interview with a doctor involved with this research on Radio 4 now. She is saying this patch would work out at about £1 a day, giving 4-5 readings during the day.

They are looking for investors, and think it is about 1-2 years away from being available.

The first obvious downside is that it sits on the wrist where it is vulnerable to moisture from hand washing and other activities.

Full marks for drawing interstitial fluid out without a needle. I wonder if it could be located somewhere else?

Agree - plus in summer when wearing short sleeves you’d look like you have escaped your hospital bed or your all inclusive holiday hotel! Like the principle though let’s hope they develop it to be worn in a less obvious place.

Hopefully it won't cause skin irritation the way other products have done.
I presumed it would give more than 4-5 readings per day, as it's worn constantly.
