Ok sooooo tonight at work I've pretty much been hypo ALL night. I've eaten the most carby and sugar filled things I can get my hands on (full pack of dextrose, full pack fruit pastilles, 4 yum yums, a chocolate mousse sundae thingy, a caramel chocolate bar, a pack of crispsand a bottle of normal coke - this was on top of my meal as well) and my levels are still dropping! :( struggling to eat anything else cos I feel really sick after everything I've had - any advice? That is, if everyone's not busy watching the football!!!

it's 13 min and if it hasn't come up it's time for A&E, on a sugar drip for the night, do you have a glucagon injection and someone to give it, if needed?

Managed to get some lucozade down and have come up to 4.2 but terrified I go to sleep at that -_- I have a glucagon but am on my own tonight :( might have to phone my mum and get her to come get me I think. Getting pretty fed up of pump now - just seems to have got worse since I went on it

I don't know too much about the pump except it takes a while to get things right. Maybe set an alarm for a few hours time and test again ? I think you need to speak to your DSN first thing Mon though. Hope things stay OK.

you have it in suspend or turned off for the time being? you could even unplug it to be sure
I'm glad it came up for you, get you mum over will make you safer and you both can have a girls night chatting for the next hour or so

Sounds like your basal is too high. I would reduce the basal by 50% and see how that goes.
What is your basal rates?
Hope your night wasnt too bad.

It will take a while to get your pump settings correct which is frustrating, but it is worth it when you finally get them right.

I would advise against suspending it / taking it off late at night incase you forget to put it back on and don't wake for a very long time - which could cause you to go very high and lead to DKA.

As the above poster said i would suggest reducing your basal. If there is a sports function then do it on there until you can speak to your DSN if you don't know how to work out how much to reduce it by. You could start by reducing it to 80% and if the hypos continue then dropping it down further. I use my sports function when I go to the gym or when the weather suddenly gets hotter but I'm insure if it will stay hot (I find the heat affects my BS).

Anyway let us know how you get on.

Hi just wanted to find out how you are now and hope you are having better readings?. I don't have a pump myself, but I have read it can take a bit of tweeking to get things settled. Also some great advice from the other members. Take care

Hi everyone,

I had reduced my basal by 70% as I use a different setting for work - I usually have 19.63 units so my altered setting gives me something like 5 units for the entire day! So starting to think there's something else going on to be honest :( I woke up at 11.3 this morning but it's all been very downhill since then! Had 3 hypos at work even with sipping lucozade through the day -_- weirdly though, I have the symptoms of being high :s

That's quite a huge drop in basal and if you continue to wake that high I would suggest the drop is a bit too much.

I dropped mine to 80% ie a drop of 20% and reduce by 10% over a few days if I continue to get lows.

Worth writing it all down and calling your DSN if you're unsure.
