My blood sugar was 20.7 earlier ( had eaten 2 hard boiled eggs maybe an hour earlier )

I want to eat ca big portion with my dinner etc plus crackers and butter , is that ok

think my novarapid amount is 10 before I eat

You can eat as many carbs as you like AS LONG AS you know how to adjust your doses for it

However, I realise you haven't been told how to carb count yet or adjust doses (for both corrections and food) but when you do know you basically you need to match the amount of carbs you eat with the amount of fast-acting insulin you take otherwise you're glucose levels will not get back to where they should be (too little will make your glucose levels go even higher, too much will make it drop) - noting that everyone is different, so what I may need would probably not work for you

As you don't know how to adjust your doses I would certainly not go overboard with your carbs as you may well just go higher and 20 is already too high.

It’s more about getting the carb/ insulin ratio right & unfortunately that’s really individual.

On diagnosis they assume your ratio is 1 to 10 so 1 unit to 10g of carbs but that doesn’t always work & your readings are still high.

How many units of basal (long lasting) insulin are you taking? In the same situation my team would have gradually increased this dose to lower my numbers.

Hi

it was 8 ( in the evening )a few days ago but today they have increased it to 6, 6 then 10

and my night time long lasting one is 26 ( was 20 yesterday )

Yep so they are very carefully increasing your doses until you get to the right amount & back in range.

I didn’t start to properly lower my numbers until I cut the carbs. But you have to be really careful. Since eggs don’t have any carbs & your readings are still in the 20s that would suggest your basal dose is not high enough. Your healthcare team will monitor the adjustments to this & hopefully you will see some good results soon. In the meantime I’d try to eat slightly less carbs, try more eggs, cheese & meat.

Hello,

What time did you inject your 10 units? When was supper, what aprox did you have? & what are your blood sugars now...?

As with advice on your other topic last night. Best not to out run your insulin dosage with too many carb snacks other than what you were advised, portion wise...
