Because of my T2D, I avoid sugar. Before stevia and monk fruit the only choices were aspartame and sucralose. I react very badly with aspartame and mildly with sucralose. Aspartame cause a chemical imbalance in my brain resulting in anxiety symptoms. Anxiety is a broad term and can manifest itself in many ways. Recently, I had 20z bottles of diet pepsi and diet coke. I thought it would be fine since I hadn't had it for a while. Several days later, I started having headache behind my temples and eyes. Also, weakness on my left arm and leg. They are symptoms I have felt before after I ingest aspartame but this time was more severe. I mentioned MSG above because the combination can make the symptoms more severe. My symptoms usually lasts for several days and I just ride it. It doesn't happen that often so sometimes I forget that I'm going thru an episode.

I use stevia/monk fruit sweeteners now when I want something sweet and have not and any adverse reactions,

Aspartame is known to cause reactions in a few and can be similar to a food intolerance.
The similar can be said about msg.
I have an intolerance to carbs and sugars, starch and most vegetable oil and some ingredients such as palm oil and such! You wouldn't believe the amount of such in not only manufactured food, but also some fresh and so called healthy food!
I also on top of all that, a lactose intolerance and a grain intolerance!

I just avoid it all and eat what is healthy for me! A balanced low carb diet, that I know keeps me healthy!

Best wishes
