Aspartame

Is there anyone out there who can tell me why Aspartame is allowed to be used in all sorts of diet or sugar free foods and drinks. Why is this poisonous chemical permitted. Is it because it is directly linked to the diabetic epidemic world wide, caused by chemical companies who also run pharmaceutical companies and want us to be sick so that they can sell more drugs. Monsanto makes the stuff , or used to before they lost the patent, and they also own/owned the Searle pharmaceutical company. ??? Go ahead, Google it under 'Aspartame side effects' and look at the 2nd link 'The most poisonous substance in our food'

I think you are reading too many scare stories. The biggest poison we all have every day is sugar. This has much more of a harmful impact on our bodies then the amounts of aspartame we consume.

I find aspartame and many other sweeteners taste like poison. A weird metallic papery flavour. I hate the **** things and avoid them.

Sugar isn't poisonous, it's just poisonous in excess. Like most other essential chemicals in the body!

Going low-carb made me realise I was addicted to sugar, and that soft drinks and the like are harmful and warp our perception of sugar.

Dear David 42,
Quite simply the answer to your question is cost. The food industry in America in an attempt to keep the cost of synthesised sugar alternatives down devised Aspartame as a cheap alternative. During it's early testing stages it was soon discovered that when Aspartame is ingested into the body and the temperature of Aspartiame is allowed to exceed 80%F it changes it's chemical composition and reformulates into 'Formaldehide' which is a toxin normally associated with the long term preservation of body parts in laboratories jars or microscopic slides.

This information was kept from the general public domain by the manufacture of Aspartame and in America when it was leaked out - All 'Hell Broke Loose' with law suites being stacked up against the manufacturer, who is currently desperate to find an alternative to this product.

In small quantites the body would appear to deal with this 'Toxin' but from what I discovered it would appear best to avoid ALL diet drinks and foods that contain this chemical sugar substitute.

There would seem to have been a very successful cover up by the chemical manufacturer of this product.

Hi Mentat. The problem with sugar isn't the glucose in sensible quantities but it is 50% fructose which the body could well do without. Yes, I agree that most things are OK in small quantities; even horseradish and rhubarb which are essentially poisonous, so we must put aspartame in perspective.
