Just had my annual review. Must admit I was very concerned as I have not had a good year diet wise, and have slipped back into eating the wrong things a bit too often. I think I experienced 'burnout' for the first time.

I was pleasantly surprised that my HB1ac has only gone up 3 to 43. Had this five years now, and the score is exactly the same as it was 4 years ago.

Anyway, just wanted to say 'thanks' to everyone on here. I don't post much, but I read a lot, and it is all useful information, even if just to know i'm not alone.

Onwards and downwards!

Hi @Caterham ..
Well done and congrats on your 40, particularly following a bad year and your "burnout" .. back to 40 (or less) bby your next review, I'm sure ..

43 is still fantastic. Think how that compares to the number at diagnosis.

I wish I could get there - I can't seem to get below 50 - well done you!

Well done! That is still only just into pre-D according to most interpretations.
and if you have had a bad year and only risen to 43, then that still counts as a great success!

Thanks all. Bizarrely, since I got the results I have been much better on my diet, encouraged by the reasonable result. I just try to keep my carbs to less than 150g per day, and that seems to work reasonably well for me. Lately I have tried a couple of days sub 100, but this seems to push up my fasting level. Can't work that one out.
