Hi after 4 years of controlling my diabetes with low carb diet and activity my BS has decided to rise . I have been a bit more relaxed recently but now in the zone to sort it.
I've developed a plan for myself and I'm sharing it incase someone else might find it useful.

Step one , project plan

Step 3 early results - the 11 result was a wake up call and the catalyst to get on Track .

Oh I know , I've no idea why I ate the pasta , I can usually have a small portion and loads of sauce but the sauce was runny. The toast was burgen bread and lower carb and only I slice , I usually tolerate it well . I am a great low carb lifestyle advocate and shout about it whenever I can . It's kept me controlled ( plus being active) for the past 4 years. This plan is helping me to focus on what I know works for me . I shared the honest data because I hope that people will see that it is possible to get back at it and not to give up.
It's personal to me buy others might find it useful .

I'm sure you'll do really well .. as you say you are well aware what works for you.
Wishing you much success with your reboot! Good luck

I really like this methodical approach, @Jamrox.
You have really thought it out, and worked on your action plan. Having achievable goals is essential. Looking forward to hearing of your success.

@Jamrox what a super approach! I'm now tempted to sort out some of my own stuff (my exercise regimen) using your plan as inspiration and motivation.

All the best with it!

:)

Doesn't all diabetics get double numbers with pasta? It just proves your diabetic not that your doing something wrong. You are what you are - diabetic.
Yes we all know pasta gives us higher bgs.
Just don't eat pasta, surely?

Thankyou for being honest and sharing your plan.
I might need a written one soon as my meds are starting to get confused and nearly missed some for repeat prescription.
I need a project plan just for them.
I wish I could project plan my kids but, nope, they won't be regimented into a strict plan. Shame thou. My life would be so much easier! Ha ha

I applaud your approach and your dedication.
I had a similar plan, till I had achieved most of my targets, (not my endos tho!)
I found out by experimenting, experience and recording and a good deal of thinking that a strict regimen is great but what happens after your target is reached.
Your next step is called sustainability.
I have done that by being in control and of course ketosis.
You don't need to be in ketosis, but your need to be vigilant of what you can tolerate, so that you don't have to do it all over again!
I wish you success.

Best wishes.

I sustained my control for 3 years then went to pot after showing off about how good and controlled I was !!!
To be honest I could until recently tolerate the amount of pasta I had . It wasn't loads and I had a lot of salad with it . I am more worried that my readings haven't come back to the 5s and I'm feeling hot again after I eat .
I don't want ketosis , I just don't want to feel **** .
The low carb approach has worked for me, my aim is for it to keep working so that I don't have to start medication . I think taking meds leads to a whole different ball game .

I love this forum , it has helped me to get a grip over the passed 4 years and so glad it's there to help .
I also love the low carb programme because it gives me the knowledge I need . The fact that I've ignored it the past couple of weeks is my fault but I'm not beating myself up , that won't help . I'm now in the zone .

Just shows , low carb works.... if you stick to it lol

I found out long ago that it isn't the amount that counts - I cannot eat grains or lentils or potatoes, without weight gain and high BG levels.
It is why Atkins seems to work so well for me - there is removal and then reintroduction and testing - called the carbohydrate ladder. I need to stick to the lower rungs and everything is great. I have even regained a waist rather than having an equator.
