Hi @parrotlady, you will have to give more information for the best advice. Are you type 1 or 2 ? your profile does not say.

Also what medications are you taking ?

There is a lot more factors involved with losing weight other than what is spread on a bagel I'm afraid.

Exercise is a HUGE factor in promoting weight loss, as is aspects such as how you balance your macronutrients, when you eat, what you eat and what your general lifestyle is like.

You don't have to spread fat (or anything you don't like) on your breakfast to lose weight by the way:)

A better background into your lifestyle, current weight, etc will help you get the best information applicable to you.

Bagal, Peanut Butter and Coconut Oil? That actually sounds really nice. I'm a fan of coconut oil, it is yum. Maybe add a bit of cinnamon to help with insulin sensitivity. The bagal is a bit of a no-no for the LCHF diet as it contains about 59g carb like most breads, which is quite high for a diabetic but if you're on the go maybe not so bad. 250 calories a bagal, add it up in your calorie intake and go from there.

How did that work for your blood sugar?

I had a cinnamon bagel some while ago now, determined from that experience that I can no longer eat bagels sad but sends blood sugars far to high.

I would bin the bagel and go for something like bacon, (good) sausage and a couple of fried eggs .. takes a bit of beating in my opinion .. and only about 10% of the carbs in the bagel

Thanks everyone. i should have given more info but was just thinking about the bagels. im 57 years young. T2 for 3 years. i take humalog and humulin insulin. im 5ft 1in. about 11 stone so overweight. im a housekeeper in a very busy hotel so spend 8 hours a day climbing 4 flights of stairs, and everything else a housekeeper does. I dont have any energy after work for exersise, to put it bluntly im ********, i wish i wasnt. Ive run half marathons, i used to enjoy exercise. I just want to loose a little but finding a balance is very hard as I need to keep up my energy level throughout the day. I am only allowed 2 15 minute breaks so no chance of anything to eat that takes time. I recently had my annual review HbA1c was 7. blood pressure good but my colesterol was 6. Doc wants to give me statins, i have to go and see him in the next few weeks. Ive been trying a bagel for breakfast but havnt tested cos having the time at work is difficult. I know im not so hungry later on in the day and no hypos. Ive tried the low carb menu but end up having hypos im just stuck. I explained to the dietitian when i had my review. all she could suggest was to try lowering my calorie intake. ???
