Thanks, I will definitely look that up.Look up LivLife bread. It's seeded, I love it. Have it with pate, or as a sandwich - for me it works well, just 3.8g of carbs per slice. Have tried other bread and it spikes me too much
These are good. Very filling and seedy, but not too high carb. Currently 29p each.I lost a lot of weight last year, about 30Kg, from 100Kg down to 70Kg. This was on a strict calorie counting diet based on GI.
Now I have started to gain weight because I have relaxed a bit. I would like to try a low carb diet, but I just love bread. Not the white plastic stuff but wholemeal or sourdough or any rustic bread with lots of seeds and nuts.
Is it possible to go on any of the low carb diets and yet have some bread?
Thanks, I will get some.Burgun bread Last week and this week four slices with tomatoes or lettuce or spinach and four with six pieces of bacon. On different days and each time borderline spiking. Delicious.
Thanks, I am still learning.Given that you can view a low carb diet as eating a maximum amount of carbs per day, as long as it is within your allowance, there's nothing to stop you having a slice. As long as you count it.
The question is whether it causes your blood glucose levels to spike, which is a different issue.
Thanks, I have heard about the Lidl rolls, I will try to get some.I use livlife bread (get it online), hilo bread (from some sainsburys), both about 15 grams carbs per 100g, perfectly acceptable, especially toasted, one slice of either sends my glucose up by about 1.0 to 1.5. However, recently discovered the lidl protein rolls described above - just superb, spike me less, can highly recommend.
Like you, I struggle to give up bread.

I do, but I have to be very careful with it, I use Aldi Seeded Batch Loaf, which is 19g carb per slice. I have to stricly limit what other carbs I have during the day. For me I found 1 slice is max, and 2 slices definitely keeps me out of going into ketosis (fat burning) mode. I use this as a switch to control how I use the LCHF diet, depending on how I want to control my weight and bgl. I am T2 and still producing some insulin myself, so I can get away with it, but you will need to test before/ 2hr after to find out if you can use bread. If you do keep bread, then use fat (e.g. butter of coconut oil) and some protein instead of jam or marmalade on top. The fat lowers the GI load.I lost a lot of weight last year, about 30Kg, from 100Kg down to 70Kg. This was on a strict calorie counting diet based on GI.
