Type 2 Bariatric surgery

My sister became pregnant after 8 years waiting when she came to visit me - I had just realized I was pregnant for the second time, and her baby was born in the January after mine was born in the November.
They complained about there being no biscuits or sugary drinks in the house, and about the food I served up, but I did laugh about that, quietly.
I did offer to explain low carbing when her second child was a couple of years old, but she said that it could not possibly help - but she didn't fall pregnant again.....

One nursing unit I worked in received gastric by-pass patients for their post-op from the initial surgery or from surgeries due to complications. I would definitely put these surgeries in the last resort category. Have you tried/considered low carb combined with fasting?
I think what bothers me the most is that the surgery is permanent, but some people regain all the weight initially lost. To have you metabolism altered for life and then to not have permanent weight loss would be tragic. As I said, this would be in my absolutely last resort category.

No am on gliclazide at the mo and starting insulin on 6/12/18. I was allergic to metformin I came out in a rash and my face swelled up.
Gliclizide adds weight.
We need a similiar med to Metformin, in such cases. If only.
I've been on insulin for nearly 13yrs (off and on). It has saved my life but I'm still overweight on it. I'm hoping my bariatric operation reduces at least half of my combined 300units need. It's mostly basal insulin which I mainly rely on. Because of my body weight.

I cannot speak for those who have regained their weight but I'm told mental triggers can interfere with overeating. So if that's not resolved first then this would definitely be the outcome. Carb cravings not curbed too.
