does anyone else use twice as many units of their basal insulin
as their bolus insulin?
for example i was using 120 units lantus but only 60 rapid
i read that they were supposed to be 50/50
but it just isnt better that way for me
anyone else?

There are no hard and fast rules, we are all individuals and our individual insulin needs are different, not only that but our needs change from day to day, so its a case of what suits me may not suit you, so I go with what works for me, I know 1unit of either basal or bolus will drop me by 2mml so that's what I work by.

I take 18 (morning) + 4 (night) of basal (detmir) and only 4 (noon) of bolus(Lispro). Humalog dose varies between 2 and 8, deoending upon BG reading before lunch and calculating the carbs of lunch to follow. It has worked well for me.

Is anyone using Humalog here? Could tell if the pen loses its efficacy after a month and should be discarded even if not fully used?

I'm on 15 units of lantus, but I can bolus a total of 60-70 units a day sometimes... maybe a bit more if I'm having a bad day, or less if I'm having a good day. It's very much an individual thing. I don't think any one diabetic is the same as the other.

I was on more basal when injecting........now probably less basal due to the carbs I shovel in.....;)

everyone is different.....

getting the basal right is most important in my book, so adjust that up or down accurately as you can...
