Batch of test strips affecting readings?

I was happily keeping my readings between 4.5 and 5.5 and rarely went outside that range. I then started on a new batch of test strips, with the control solution they read 1.1 higher than the previous batches, still in the range though. Now I seem to be settling around 5.3 as the low reading. There is the odd reading in the low 4's to confuse matters.
Do you think I am reading about 1 higher than previously or is the blood test run differently form the control solution.

As a side question - does anyone know what the control solution should read. I guess it's something to do with what is on the label. Or is it possible to get a solution with a known result to calibrate the strips with the meter.

Not too worried but would be nice to know if I should be doing more.

Each batch of strips has a min and max value on the container. When you use the test solution, if the result is between these numbers, it's OK.

Thanks. I said it's in the range.
The question is about the difference and what ok means.

If one batch tests at 1.0 higher than the other with the control solution should we expect that to give about 1.0 higher readings for bg.
