Hi folks, im unsure if this is the correct area for this topic, but wanted to share/discuss.

It was this element that made me think; 'The scientists in Cambridge believe that they can do the same thing with other tissues in the body.'

Can you imagine if it could repair a pancreas, pipedream at the moment I know. Rejuvination of cells is definitely an exciting step forward.

Admittedly though at least for Type1's you would also have to find a way to stop the immune system declaring war on it again :(

Thats true I guess, although with my naive enthusiasm, its hard to say how far they could go in resetting and or repairing issues on a cellular level.

Unfortunateluy it involves a chemial bath that apparently removes the RNA component of the DNA This turns it eventually into a dormant stem cell but because it can also damage the DNA chromosomes then it can induce cancer. This was the basic process used to clone Dolly the Sheep
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_(sheep)

It works in the petri dish but has not been re-implanted in a human yet.

This is true. Cynicism aside, its a fantastic concept which would/could be a game changer for many if their work leads to successful future trials.

There are a load of bods waiting in cryogenic storage, waiting for that day. Hallelujiah!

I'm afraid we need to understand the nature of ageing and diabetes before it offers the likes of me a few more years. At least with phlogiston it turned out to be something useful (oxygen)

Growing tissue from cells is the same as growing meat in a laboratory. I would not want to eat the latter, and skin cells replace themselves anyway, so unless they do find a real life saving use for them I remain sceptical at best.
I think Im getting old that I find modern world devolving too fast and we don't yet know the real long term effects...need I quote seed oils and gm wheat?
