Type 2 diabetes
Being aware of carbohydrate
foods and food portion sizes is
important if you have Type 2 diabetes. The following
general guidelines will help to manage your diabetes and
benefit your general health:
Eat regularly - aim for three meals a day, including
breakfast
Include some carbohydrate foods with a lower
glycaemic index at each meal
Aim for at least 5-a-day: that's portions of fruits and
vegetables
Eat oily fish such as mackerel, sardines or salmon

bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, or
chapatti. The larger the portion, the more effect these
foods will have on raising blood glucose

That same information and source is in the Basic Advice for Newbies we post here regularly........

All about Carbohydrates and how the information in 2007 when the fact sheet was published seems to have been corrupted by some HCP's to instruct Diabetic's to 'eat plenty' of carbs from 'eat some' carbs with each meal. The advice about what carbs do to BG levels also seems to have been ignored in some quarters.......

Many HCP's seem to think we can all tolerate the same amount of carbs in our diet, just because some are low GI, but as many of us know to our cost....that isn't always the case. Hence the reason why in our advice we suggest a reduction of carbs can be beneficial.
